A versatile stoneware crockery set inspired by traditional concrete floor tiles. Individual dishes for small bites and mezze which can be rearranged into endlessly varied patterns.

Deconstructing traditional floor tiles to establish basic shapes and new arrangements 

All tools were custom designed using 3D software. The segmented pouring frames (left) were 3D printed, while the press moulds (right) were created from plaster poured onto 3D printed negatives.

Pigment powder is added to slip which is then poured into custom made 3D printed templates.

As the slip hardens, the mould is removed and the clay slab is placed into a two-part plaster mould which presses it into shape.

Using varied colours, shapes and groupings, Portion can be arranged to create playful displays of food for any table.

Combinations of differently shaped and coloured plates can be arranged for communal eating or for personal dining.
